The Northern Oasis! Boort is a water wonderland for those who love boating, water skiing, canoeing, sailing, fishing and bird watching.
Located on Lake Boort, 250km northwest of Melbourne and 100km from Bendigo, Boort is the Jewel of the Loddon region with lot’s to see and do and plenty of local produce to taste as you explore! Stay a while on the lush banks of the Lake, and explore the local tracks, and check out the abundant native birdlife.
Away from the water culture abound. Boort is an Aboriginal word meaning “smoke from the hill” and is an area rich indigenous history of the Dja Dja Wurrung people, who used Bald Hill to send smoke signals. As well as indigenous culture Boort is home to some wonderful artists. Take a tour around “Spanner Man”, and visit the works of art that are installed around the Lake each year.
The town is in easy reach of the caravan park and there is a range of affordable accommodation options on the high street for singles, couples and families.
Overnighters with physical disabilities maybe frustrated by lack of accessible accommodation options, but plans are afoot to create more accessible accommodation opportunities, so watch this space!
